Service Description

Have you ever heard a high-pitched whistle while in the mountains? That’s the hoary marmot, a unique creature known for its vocal warnings, playful wrestling, and lengthy hibernation. These charming dandelion eaters are a delightful sight on high elevation hikes. But how is climate change affecting their distribution? How do they fit into our ecosystem? What dangers do they face? This program is suitable for groups of all ages. This program also includes a visit from our animal ambassador Marmalade (a hoary marmot). Please read program details before booking. Program details: - Program is seasonal from May to September based on Marmalade's hibernation schedule. - The marmot program is limited to a maximum of two programs per day. These programs MUST be booked back to back with a maximum of 15 minutes in between. - Programs are from 30 to 45 minutes, as we have to adjust our program around Marmalade's needs. - Large crowds can be intimidating to Marmalade, as well as reduce the participant experience. Please restrict participants to a single class, or up to 45 individuals. - On rare occasions, Marmalade’s attendance may be cancelled last minute due to cold weather, storms, medical needs, or if she’s simply not in the mood. We only use positive reinforcement and will never force her to participate. We’ll do our best to reschedule or offer an alternative program.
