Services Offered by the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation
Society The Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (CWRS) works
closely with Alberta's Fish and Wildlife Department in responding to wildlife
rescue calls that involve large mammals trapped in the city.
The CWRS also works with many Calgary veterinary clinics in accepting
wildlife from the general public. These clinics donate their time to providing
initial treatment before the animals are transferred to the CWRS facility.
Trained volunteers respond to wildlife rescues and assist staff with medical
treatments and post-operative care. Animals at the CWRS facilities are
not only given food, shelter, medical attention and rehabilitation training,
but also lots of love. As much as possible, when the animal is ready,
it is released back into the wild.
Besides rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife, the CWRS also offers other
services to the community. The CWRS:
Provides rotating
educational presentations at schools, Junior Forest Wardens, Scouts,
Brownies, service groups and other interested organizations
Conducts studies
on the types of wildlife received and related research.
Did you know that the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society does educational presentations?
A volunteer and sometimes one of our permanent resident owls (when available) will visit your school so you can learn more about wildlife.
We are also able to do adult presentations regarding our organization and the wildlife we treat.
